If you have a home theater system, you can watch your favorite shows and listen to you favorites anytime within the very comfort of your home. And you can be productive because you can do other chores while the home theater system is playing. You can stop and pause the movies while you multi task and resume again when you are ready. Best and most important of all, with a home theater system, you can always be with your family.
So now that you are thinking of buying a home theater system, you need to consider several things. First of course is your budget. Then you may need to study the overall lay out, style and color scheme of your living room or any place of the house where you plan to install the home theater system.
Television (TV)
This is the center piece of the home theater system so you need to carefully think about which television is right for you. Modern home theater systems usually have Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) or Plasma TVs but you are not really restricted on your choice in this.
Modern Home Theater Systems commonly have wide screen televisions having a 16:9 aspect ratio. This is close to real theater screens.
Multimedia Projector
Most multimedia projectors are used with laptop computers for business presentations like PowerPoint. But this device has become increasingly popular in home theaters. A multimedia project, also called compact front projector using LCD or DLP technology, have low-noise and can project extremely large pictures. However, when you use them, you need to darken the room so that you get a clear picture.
Control Center
Since your home theater system is composed of many different components; you need a control center as a hub for connecting them all. In the more upscale home theater systems, there is a separate amplifier and receiver system to manage production of powerful sound.
Speakers
Sound is an extremely important aspect if you really need to get immersed in a total movie theater experience. So if you can afford it, buy only the best surround sound system. Sound system experts recommend a sound system consisting of five to seven satellite speakers surrounding your home theater room. You need to be aware of the three major types of satellite speakers and they are bass sub-woofers, mid-range speakers and tweeters.
JBL, Bose and Paradigm are the more famous companies offering complete surround sound systems.
THX
Although not absolutely necessary, it is nice to have equipment which are THX certified. THX certified gadgets can assure you of high quality, power, distortion tolerance and frequency response standards.
Amplifier
Amplifiers boost audio signals so they can boom within you room and give you a dramatic audio experience. Many amplifiers also try to modulate the sound and reduce noise and other distortions to give you clear sound output.
DVD Players
When purchasing a DVD Player, it is extremely important to first consider the output resolution so this complements with your television display, especially if you are using wide screen television. Many older types of DVDs deliver picture quality like that in TV broadcasts using 480i output. This means that the display will have 480 video scan lines. If you get a 480p or progressive scan, which is provided with most current players, you get a lot better picture quality. If you really want to get the latest and top of the line DVD, you may want to consider buying true definition HD DVD or Blu-ray discs capable DVD, but they can be expensive.
